I have this weird habit of watching movie reruns, if i already watch it i'll be glad to watch it again.
Two days ago, it's The Last Samurai that i watch again, i remember watching this movie when i still in college, since i'm in japanese language major watching this movie seems important. And i remember how my friends cry when Ken Watanabe's character died (i didn't cry, since i have an issue for not being sensitive), it was a very sad scene but the thing that really bug me is i can't really believe why Tom Cruise is the Last Samurai. It seems very comedic to me, because i've learn that japanese have a very big pride about their nation and it's just unbelievable that they let this western short guy to lead and actually stay with the wife of a japanese samurai that he killed.
And i'm glad that this movie didn't get really big in Oscar and the only one that get the nomination is Ken Watanabe. This movie pretty much depicted how the western see us all asians and i hope it changed pretty soon. But in the end it's all about Hollwood and money, imagine if no Tom Cruise in this movie, i don't think it will get Oscar nod.
